Description
The territory of Fabbriche di Vergemoli lies on the southeastern slope of the Pania mountain range. Both valleys that make up the municipality are easily accessible from the valley floor road that runs through Garfagnana.
From Lucca: follow the signs for Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. At Marlia, take the third exit at the traffic circle, always following the signs for Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. A few kilometers after passing through the town of Borgo a Mozzano with its Ponte del Diavolo (Devil's Bridge), on the left is the junction for Fabbriche di Vallico/Vallico Sotto/Vallico Sopra.
To reach Vergemoli/Eremo di Calomini/Fornovolasco/Grotta del Vento instead, continue along the valley floor to Gallicano, then follow the signs for Vergemoli.
From Aulla: follow signs for Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. When you reach Castelnuovo, continue in the direction of Lucca on the valley floor. When you reach Gallicano, on the right follow signs for Vergemoli/Grotta del Vento.
To reach Fabbriche di Vallico/Vallico Sotto, continue on the valley floor past Gallicano for about 4 km to loc. Turrite Cava where there is a junction on the right that takes us directly to Fabbriche di Vallico.
