Description
In the village there is the Church dedicated to St. Mary of the Snow built in the early 19th century on which a village legend revolves. It is said, in fact, that one summer day many years ago the village was overwhelmed by a heavy snowfall that some, even today, remember through the stories of those who were there. The inhabitants, therefore, surprised by this prodigy, consecrated the parish church to Our Lady of the Snow.
The feast of the patron saint Madonna della Neve is August 5.
Two Centuries after its birth there were 68 families living in Campolemisi, so a total of 300 people. The people, still being dependent on the parish of Gragliana, felt the need to have their own church to dedicate to Our Lady of the Snow. After the application was approved, construction work on the chapel was begun, in which the entire population participated and which ended on January 7, 1824. In 1841 the statutes of the confraternity belonging to the said church were approved, and three years later the curate's house was enlarged.
