Mount Cross

The Apuan Alps mountain range represents the heart of our territory,a mountainous area among the most typical and varied of the Italian peninsula for the richness of the landscapes it holds, from deep valleys to very inclined slopes,environments as varied and contrasting as ever, which favor the floristic and faunal richness of the territory. Rocky slopes, a thousand paths, peaks that overlook the sea. majestic natural sculptures, such as the Panie massif and the huge natural arch of Mount Forato. The Apuan Alps are also known worldwide for the beauty of their marbles and the deep abysses and great cavities of the karst underground.

Mount Cross represents a famous destination especially in the month of May during the flowering , especially of daffodils which whiten the mountain slopes. Easy hikes to reach the summit are worthwhile if only for the admiration of the surrounding panorama. It can be reached from San Pellegrinetto via CAI trail 135 and then CAI 108.

Reachable on foot without the need for special equipment.

From Seravezza continue in the direction of Stazzema. Before the village, on the right, turn following the signs for Rifugio Forte dei Marmi. After about 2 km you meet the beginning of trails 5 and 6 but continue to the end of the dirt road where you take 5 bis (new 120). After about 15' you find the junction with path No. 6 which, in about 20' takes us to the B&B Casa Giorgini. You continue to the Fonte di Moscoso (where you can refuel with water). After a short while We take trail No. 8 towards the Foce delle Porchette, then No. 108 to a place called 'Le Scalette'. From here begin the blue signs showing the way to the summit.
